Ceva Philippines proudly held Ceva Layer Day 2025 last September 3, 2025, at the Crimson Manila Hotel, gathering over 100 layer and breeder producers from across the country. With the theme “Respiratory Integrity in Layers: Science, Strategy and Solutions,” the event served as a valuable platform for learning, collaboration, and industry connection. Designed to combine technical insights with a relaxed and enjoyable setting, the event fulfilled its goal of strengthening partnerships and driving progress in the Philippine poultry sector. The program featured a strong lineup of expert speakers. Atty. Irwin Ambal, a layer farmer and former president of the National Egg Board, opened the day with key industry updates and outlook. Dr. Butch Yabut, a poultry consultant and diplomate of the Philippine College of Poultry Practitioners, discussed the most relevant diseases affecting layers. Jessica Lee, Ceva’s Global Veterinary Services Manager, tackled co-infections and the importance of proper diagnosis, while Seçkin Sandikli, Ceva’s Global Marketing Director, addressed the rising concern of Avian Influenza and Ceva’s global response. A major highlight of the event was the introduction of Ceva’s “Less Is More” program, which promotes smarter, more efficient disease management — reducing interventions while maximizing flock health. Beyond the technical sessions, the event featured live music and interactive segments, making it not only informative but also fun and engaging for all attendees. Ceva Layer Day 2025 was a true success, reflecting Ceva’s commitment to innovation, partnership, and shared growth in the poultry industry.

At Livestock Philippines 2025, Informa Markets hosted the forum “From Policies to Practice – Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance Together,” spotlighting strategies to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in animal agriculture and public health. Dr. Michael Constante, National Veterinary Services Manager – Poultry at Ceva Animal Health Philippines Inc., presented “Vaccination as an Alternative to Antibiotics,” emphasizing the distinct roles of vaccines and antibiotics. Vaccines prevent diseases by priming the immune system, while antibiotics treat bacterial infections after animals fall ill. Misusing antibiotics—especially for viral infections—accelerates AMR. Dr. Constante highlighted vaccination as a key strategy to reduce antibiotic use and curb AMR. Even vaccines for viral diseases help by preventing secondary bacterial infections, lowering the need for antibiotics. Vaccination also promotes herd immunity, protecting vulnerable animals. A major challenge in early-life vaccination is maternal antibody interference. Ceva’s immune-complex vaccines, like the Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) vaccine for poultry, overcome this by shielding antigens from maternal antibodies, ensuring effective immune responses. Similar innovations for pigs are in development. Globally, vaccination is recognized by organizations like WOAH, FAO, and WHO as a cost-effective, sustainable approach to combat AMR. Ceva continues to advance vaccine technologies to support this mission.

Ceva Animal Health in Asia partners with the swine farmers in the region as it regains footing amidst the African swine fever (ASF) onslaught. And one of the best ways to help is by empowering key stakeholders to make informed decisions through knowledge sharing. On March 11, 2021, Ceva Swine Asia will hold its first webinar for 2021 entitled " Why do they buy our pork?". Discussions will revolve around current pork consumer trends and antibiotic restrictions in swine production. The guest speakers for this session will be Mr. Guillem Burset, owner of an international pig meat trading company. His professional path in meats started in 1977 as a manager at Jaume Abras, S.A. In 1986 he was elected President of the Meat Industries Catalan Federation (FECIC), a position he held until 1989. Mr. Burset worked for ESS-FOOD Spain, a multinational Danish pig meat trading company between 1990 and 1993. A founding partner of Grup Unexporc S.A. in 1994, he helped establish the export of Spanish pig meat with the group until 2005 when he left to create his own trading company. Dr. Daniel Sperling is Ceva Swine's Corporate Technical Manager. He started his career as an academician at the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, his alma mater, first as a researcher then as an Assistant Professor in the Ruminant and Swine Clinic. He holds a PhD from the Institute of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases specializing in enteric diseases of swine. He holds 4 years of swine consultancy experience in the Czech Republic and more than 12 years of involvement in the animal pharmaceutical industry.

Progressis ® is Ceva’s inactivated PRRSV vaccine. It targets reproductive animals, especially to boost immunity originally obtained by vaccination with an MLV vaccine or by field infection. Its obvious advantage over MLV vaccines is it safety profile; because of its inactivated nature it will not replicate in the vaccinated animal, mutate or spread. COMPOSITION Each 2-ml dose of vaccine contains: Active substance: Inactivated Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus, P120 strain, 2.5 log 10 IF* units. *IF units: ImmunoFluorescence antibody titre obtained after 2 injections in pigs under specific laboratory conditions. Adjuvant: O/W oily excipient q.s. 1 dose of 2 ml. INDICATION Reduction of the reproductive disorders caused by Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome virus in a contaminated environment: vaccination reduces the number of early farrowings and the number of stillbirths. In PRRS infected herds, viral infection is heterogeneous and varies over time. In such context, the implementation of a vaccination program is a tool to improve the reproductive parameters and may contribute to the disease control in conjunction with sanitary measures. HOW TO USE PROGRESSIS? One dose of 2 ml is administered by deep intramuscular route, in the neck muscles behind the ear, according to the following vaccination scheme: Primary vaccination: Gilts: 2 injections 3-4 weeks apart, at least 3 weeks before mating. Sows: 2 injections 3-4 weeks apart (vaccination of all the sows of the herd within a short period is recommended). Revaccination: One injection at 60-70 days of each gestation, as of the first gestation following the primary vaccination. WITHDRAWAL PERIOD Zero days.

We face together an extraordinary situation where the world is going into lockdown to face the very real threat posed by Covid-19. I wanted to assure you that Ceva is taking every contingent step possible, to firstly protect our own employees (and ensure they don’t contaminate others) and then to make sure that we continue to provide you our customers with the products, equipment and services essential to your operations. I have no wish to add to the plethora of communications around Covid-19, except to say that Ceva will do everything within our power to support you, our most valued customers. MANUFACTURING AND SUPPLY Our global manufacturing and supply chain is fully engaged in managing resources and shipments to and from our facilities. Thanks to our robust inventory planning, so far we have had no impact on product availability. For our strategic vaccines and pharmaceutical products, we always carry several months of safety stocks. All our global manufacturing plants continue to run as normally as possible with the health and well-being of our workers being our primary concern. I would like to publicly thank them for their sense of civic duty in continuing to produce the animal health products our customers rely on. Ceva’s local teams are engaging with all customers to elaborate the best plan to support continuity of supply. Local and Global business contingency teams are constantly monitoring this very fluid environment and we will of course keep you fully informed should matters change. Please if you have any more specific questions direct them to your immediate Ceva contact and if necessary, use this address: corporate.communication@ceva.com THE VITAL ROLE OF ANIMAL HEALTH IN OUR SOCIETY As veterinarians, farmers, pet owners or animal health workers you all know the vital role animals play in our society. As we ask many people to avoid contact with other people, pets will play an extremely important role in providing companionship to the most vulnerable groups, particularly older people whose mental and physical health could otherwise be severely affected by such isolation. Although, in many parts of the world we take for granted the supply of inexpensive and plentiful food, this crisis will strain our supply chains to the limit and maybe help society to better understand the value that livestock farming brings to our communities. Our Ceva value of solidarity fits this challenge perfectly. To all our customers and especially my fellow veterinarians, your role in this crisis is key, you have my commitment that we are together with you, and as One Ceva. Marc Prikazsky Chairman & CEO Ceva Santé Animale

Iron is an essential micronutrient in piglets. It plays a major role in the transport of oxygen via hemoglobin and myoglobin, as well as having a key role in enzymes, such as cytochromes, catalases and peroxidases. Injectable iron-carbohydrate complexes, such as gleptoferron, are established hematinic agents in veterinary medicine and are effective in significantly increasing the hemoglobin levels in piglets raised under intensive farming conditions in which an all-milk diet for several weeks does not provide an adequate source of iron. Following intramuscular injection, gleptoferron is absorbed and metabolized to release the iron for use and/or storage in accordance with the nutritional status of the animals. Excess iron in principally stored in the liver. Toltrazuril is a triazinon derivative and an anti-protozoan agent. It has coccidiocidal activity against all intracelular development stages of the genera Cystoisospora , that is, merogony (asexual multiplication) and gamogony (sexual phase). FORCERIS ® is indicated for pigs aged 1-3 days of age for the concomitant prevention of iron deficiency anemia and prevention of clinical signs of coccidiosis (diarrhea) as well as reduction in oocyst excretion in farms with a confirmed history of coccidiosis caused by Cystoisospora suis.

Its objective is to send the message about “Embracing Chicken and Eggs to help break the cycle of child stunting.” This movement was initiated by Ceva Animal Health Asia which covers 9 countries. There are 3 phases in this CSR project, the first of which is to raise awareness of the importance of chicken and eggs through social media. This will be followed by an actual feeding program phase in a select institution with children less than 5 years of age which will be made more successful and meaningful through synergistic partnership with our local poultry partners.

In July 23 and 25, 2019, Ceva PH formally launched its newest product, Novamune. This signaled their renewed commitment to the Philippine layer segment with Novamune, a layer-specific Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) vaccine. With some of the biggest players in this industry, Novamune was introduced through the global campaign - Less is More . In the new Ceva program, hatchery vaccination with Novamune at the core is recommended as the preferred option because of the 53% reduction in vaccine application (from 19 applications to 9 applications). The hatchery program guarantees cost savings and stress reduction due to handling which is a culprit in unoptimized flock performance. Discussions during the half day session included Dr. Fusun Gungor’s topic on Less is More which touched on Ceva’s new technology vaccines in a simplified vaccination program. Novamune differentiating features were clearly enumerated by Dr Mel Umandal while the local and international field trial results were presented by Dr Jay Peria. As the Philippines breaks into the Asian livestock and poultry export market, a representative from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) was invited to share the government’s initiatives and plans moving forward. Dr. Oscar Jhan Cabanayan tackled salient points on egg importation and layer farm accreditation to encourage local farmers to take part in the success of this opportunity. The audience actively participated as they posed challenging questions after the presentations and consulted with the experts on their specific flock health programs.

The technical discussion was handled smoothly by our key speaker, Dr Mark Mombarg and followed by a lively and lengthy exchange of opinions between Dr. Mark Mombarg and his audience. This furthered the interest of those in attendance to try Cevazuril as the most logical and cost-beneficial alternative to the only locally available branded product.

It is participated in by over a two thousand farm raisers from small-scale raisers to integrated farm operations and a majority of the Philippine veterinary drug companies.
The Northern part of Luzon, Philippines’ biggest island has been challenged early this year by Newcastle disease (ND) which resulted in significant damages that left farmers grasping for answers and remedies. In response to numerous requests for assistance, Ceva Animal Health Philippines immediately went out to investigate reports. The Philippine government, through the Bureau of Animal Industry has actively sought Ceva’s expert opinion and assistance on the virus which we identified to be Genotype VIIi. The local Ceva team proudly emphasized that Ceva ND vaccine users had very low casualty reports with 85% of Transmune users already using it with Vectormune ND (under the Perfect Pair program). Ceva stepped up the support to poultry industry key stakeholders as it intensified aid to farm partners through visits, necropsies, lab tests and recently, a continuing education tour on the ND problem. This endeavor involved tackling issues head on as authorities in poultry diseases were invited to share their experiences. The series of seminars kicked off in Manila in April 5 with two speakers, Dr Dennis Umali of the University of the Philippines Los Banos entitled “Advances in Disease Diagnosis in Poultry and Livestock” where he tackled topics relative to DNA sequencing, and our very own Dr Christophe Cazaban, Knowledge Manager, Innovation Strategy Department, Ceva Sante Animale, who shared ideas through his topic “Newcastle Disease Control and Prevention: A New Perspective”. The guests were composed of poultry key opinion leaders mainly veterinarians (KOL) handling cases involving a substantial number of birds. Visits to key provinces in the islands of Visayas and Mindanao followed in succeeding days which were well-attended and the level of engagement was high. The local Veterinary Technical Services Managers Dr Mel Umandal and Dr Jay Peria also contributed presentations to help the Visayas and Mindanao veterinarians fight against and prepare for ND challenges better.

Ceva Philippines joined one of the biggest expos in 2016, the International Animal Health, Genetics and Nutrition (INAHGEN) Congress held last February 24-26, 2016. INAHGEN boasted of having over 400 exhibitors and 40,000 local and international guests during the three day exhibition. The Ceva teams showcased their latest offerings aimed at improving farm productivity through quality and value-based products, services and equipment. The Ceva Swine Team shared the latest app offerings – Ceva Lung Program (CLP), Respi-nomics and Repro-nomics through short in-booth demonstrations and one-on-one tutorial sessions with engaged customers. The Ceva swine team aims to be a significant player and the center of knowledge in swine respiratory and reproductive health. Part of their endeavor includes sharing updates on how to quickly and accurately monitor, assess and address concerns in the above mentioned segments. As market leader in the poultry biologicals segment, numerous broiler and layer farmers visited to discuss and consult with the Ceva Poultry Team experts on relevant avian disease issues as well as appropriate health programs for their operations. Even notable personnel from the Bureau of Animal Industry also stopped by to discuss the ND reports in North Luzon with Ceva Poultry experts. Guests were treated to a surprise with the Compact Egginject display which was also a highlight of Ceva’s participation. The display provided potential customers the opportunity to appreciate the device at a more intimate distance. The audio-visual presentation playing next to the Egginject provided more insight on the machine’s capabilities and allowed viewers to see it in action.
